JASON MACVAUGH
Dean Higher Education, BUV
Before joining BUV, Associate Professor Jason MacVaugh was Director of Studies at the University of Liverpool (UK) and, held leading positions at the University of East Anglia (UK). His career includes teaching and research activities across international locations including Japan; Hong Kong; Singapore; USA; Italy and Tunisia. MacVaugh is a keen Teaching and Learning champion: winning a HEA National Teaching Fellowship in 2011; multiple faculty teaching and learning excellence awards; and publishing Pedagogic research alongside his disciplinary work in Innovation and Human Resource Management.
DR. JOAO FIALHO
Head of Center for Postgraduate Studies, BUV
After an initial start as a data and pricing analyst working for several multinational companies in Portugal, Joao rejoined academia as Assistant Professor overseas in 2012. Since then, he has lived and experienced the vastly different cultures of North America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. And while always on the academic forefront, Joao never ceased being a doer and entrepreneur. Building the bridge between science and the “real world” via technology has been the driving force of Joao´s work as a data scientist and engineer. A natural born problem solver, Joao focuses on driving customer-centric models for our clients. Academically, Joao is an active and reputed researcher in the field of differential equations, mathematical modelling, big data and data analytics, with proven experience in a wide range of international publications, books and a multitude of communications at international conferences, in the area of data analytics, mathematics modelling and applications.
